Brayden Myers

Student

The University of Alabama

Brayden Myers is a second-year student at the University of Alabama, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree with majors in Economics, Philosophy, and Mathematics, as well as a master’s in Quantitative Economics. His interest in economics began in high school, which sparked his interest in political philosophy, behavioral economics, and public policy. He is particularly interested in the biases and structural obstacles that lead to outcomes conventional economic models fail to predict, such as the anti-authority mentality of truckers reducing technological adoption or the paperwork burdens discouraging taxpayer compliance. His curiosity about these issues has led him to research and policy work, including internships at the American Institute for Economic Research and the National Taxpayers Union. Outside of academics, Brayden serves as treasurer for the University of Alabama men’s rowing team, where he enjoys competing in regional and national regattas. He is also president of the university’s Economics Student Association and vice president of the Cribbage Club, where he continues his campaign to convince more people of the game’s timeless appeal. In his spare time, he is a self-taught harmonica and piano player, a hobby that has undoubtedly tested the patience of his roommates.
