Christopher Gardner is a Research Associate at the Cato Institute, where he focuses on technology policy with a special interest in AI, online free expression, and antitrust debates in the tech industry. His work, which approaches these issues from a pro-innovation, pro-individual liberty perspective, has appeared on the Cato blog and in Inside Sources. Before joining the Cato Institute, Christopher worked as a Governor’s Fellow in the Office of Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin. While there, he worked closely with the Virginia Office of Regulatory Management to help streamline and simplify regulations. Christopher graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Philosophy, Policy & Law. While at UVA, he competed for the Men’s Rowing Team, winning two ACRA national championships and earning All-American honors. He has also raced internationally in the UK, Switzerland, and Canada. Born in Texas, Christopher spent several years in Belgium and Northern Virginia. He is passionate about discovering new ideas, communicating complex policy questions clearly, and learning from the stories of others.
