James Erwin

James Erwin is Federal Affairs Manager for Telecommunications at Americans for Tax Reform and the Executive Director of Digital Liberty, positions he assumed in August 2022. He previously worked four years for Senator Susan Collins on the Senate Aging Committee and in her personal office, covering a diverse portfolio of domestic policy issues that included telecommunications and technology, banking, trade, Social Security, education, energy, and several others. Erwin took part in staff-level negotiations for the December 2020 COVID package and the broadband provisions of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, both of which became law. A native of Yarmouth, Maine, Erwin holds a B.A. from Bates College, where he majored in history and film studies while serving on the board of his college’s radio station and as President of the Bates College Republicans. He currently resides in Washington, DC.
