Tate Kaufman
Law Student
George Mason University
Tate Kaufman is a second-year law student at George Mason University' Antonin Scalia Law School in Arlington, Virginia. He grew up from Calgary, Canada - as his extensive bolo tie collection would indicate – before moving to Vancouver for his undergraduate degree. At the University of British Columbia, he completed a double major in English and Political Science, graduating with high honors while working as a music journalist and photographer for Discorder Magazine.
A staunch defender of civil liberties, Tate has worked on issues of federal and state constitutional law as a Dave Kennedy Fellow at The Institute for Justice and fought back against Whistleblower retaliation while at the Government Accountability Project. He also works as a research assistant for the Music Ecosystems Institute, helping to develop a novel theory of copyright and style. When not in school or working he is usually training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, writing, or attending a local concert (The Rhizome and Pie Shop are his favorite DC venues).
