What sets us apart is our commitment to ideological pluralism. We work with political independents who don’t fit neatly on the left-right spectrum. The most interesting people rarely do.

Young Voices mourns the tragic violence that occurred at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. In these challenging times, it is crucial for America to renew its dedication to public safety and order, fostering communities where candidates and voters can freely exercise their rights in peace.
Friend,
This past weekend, Young Voices was thrilled to be a part of FreedomFest in Las Vegas. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our network to connect, share ideas, and promote the values we stand for. Here are some highlights:
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event a memorable success. We look forward to continuing our mission and building on these achievements.

Young Voices is growing day by day, and we have begun hiring to keep up with promoting and growing our organization. We are currently looking for two young professionals to join our team! If you or anyone you know are interested in joining the team and helping grow our influence, we have information of the open positions and applications below:
Young Voices is rapidly growing our programs and influence, and a Development Associate will be able to help our fundraising efforts keep pace. The Development Associate will assist Executive Director Casey Given in fundraising and will be regularly interacting with nonprofits and donors on behalf of Young Voices, so strong communication skills are a must.
This position is full-time and in-person, based out of Young Voices’ downtown Washington, DC office (with flexibility for 2 days of remote work per week).
Young Voices is searching for a Public Relations Associate to assist our content department with professional development training and pitching our writers for broadcast interviews. The associate will be regularly interacting with media outlets and partner organizations on behalf of Young Voices with the aim of promoting the careers of our contributors and the message of liberty.
This role will report to the Public Relations Manager and is available either in office in Washington, DC, New York City, or may be executed remotely.
Friend,
Last week, the world last a true champion of liberty with the passing of David Boaz. As Executive Vice President of the Cato Institute for decades, David was operative in bringing mainstream attention to libertarian ideas through his books, interviews, and mentorship of rising libertarian leaders. I was one of them.
I met David 14 years ago on one of my first trips to Washington as a Campus Coordinator for Students For Liberty, and he was a good friend and mentor ever since, joining Young Voices Board of Advisors in 2017. Anyone who got to know David can tell you about his precision and wit. He had a top-tier B.S. detector, would always encourage people he cared about to be honest, knowledgeable, and thorough in their work. He pushed me to be a better professional and person, and for that I am forever grateful for.
This week, I had the pleasure of attending a conference Cato just threw in Buenos Aires called The Rebirth of Argentina and Beyond featuring the newly elected libertarian President Javier Milei. The crowd was electric, with over 500 freedom fighters in attendance fired up to fix their country, which has been battered by decades of socialist governance and hyperinflation. Just this morning, Milei’s reform package passed their Senate, despite the socialists’ constant attacks.
Decades ago, a country like Argentina would have seemed hopeless. But, it’s because of the work of freedom fighters like David Boaz at Cato and elsewhere that we’re starting to see real changes. I personally would be content with my life’s work if Young Voices had just a sliver of the impact that David had in promoting the ideas of liberty through empowering the next generation in the media.
Rest in peace, David Boaz.
Sincerely,
Casey Given

Friend,
Last Friday marked the deadline for Young Voices' Fall Contributor Program and the end of our Fiscal Year 2024. I'm pleased to report that 108 students and young professionals applied for our fall class.
This number is less than our last application haul of 132 — by intention, not accident! With approximately 40 slots per class, we shifted our marketing to attracting higher quality applicants through referrals rather than higher quantity through advertising.
We are nonetheless pleased to be in a position to be selective in our admissions and will be sure to engage with all of our applicants through invitations to policy briefings, events, and more. We are thrilled to continue growing our network of classical liberal communicators at a time when their voices are desperately needed.
Speaking of which, with June marking the beginning of a new fiscal year, I can report some initial figures from our past 12 months of media impact:
With an incoming class in the near future and a new fiscal year just begun, we are excited to announce some major program initiatives in the coming weeks empowering tomorrow's leaders for liberty today. Stay tuned!
Sincerely,
Casey Given

This week on Moving Forward, the Young Voices radio show, we hear from contributors Joseph Bouchard, Ethan Brown, Noah Gould and Dissident Project Director Grace Bydalek.
El Salvador's president is under fire for his authoritarian policies in response to a skyrocketing crime rate. Joseph Bouchard explains how president Bukele has become the very thing he swore to destroy.
There's no voice like the voice of experience when it comes to making the case against tyranny. Grace Bydalek, director of The Dissident Project, joins us to discuss how Young Voices is training speakers who've lived under tyranny to share their message.
The Israel/Gaza conflict is creating many rifts around the world. Ethan Brown shares how the climate movement is being splintered as activists target Israel.
There are two types of entrepreneurs, those who project success and those who solve problems. Noah Gould explains why entrepreneurship requires more hard work and less Wework.

This week on Moving Forward, the Young Voices radio show, we hear from contributors Micky Horstman, Lexi Boccuzzi, James Erwin, and Jacob Lane.
The Chicago Transit Authority has had its challenges. Mickey Horstman says the key to CTA's recovery is boosting business, not taxes.
So much of the protesting taking place on college and university campuses in America is based in a sense of perpetual victimhood. Lexi Boccuzzi says we could learn something about avoiding a victim mindset from our Jewish peers.
The hardcore antisemitism that has plagued so many institutions of higher learning isn't being driven by students alone. James Erwin says don't let faculty off the hook for campus antisemitism.
Indiana's General Assembly has passed a law allowing universities to revoke tenure from professors who don't promote intellectual diversity. Jacob Lane warns that this law could turn classrooms into free speech minefields.

Friend,
As protests rattle college campuses across America, Young Voices' writers are out on the ground covering the unrest. Last night, Young Voices contributor and Columbia student Jonas Du live tweeted the violent occupation of Hamilton Hall by a pro-Palestine mob, leading to appearances this morning on CNN and Fox News.
This is Jonas' second time on Fox in a week; Young Voices booked him last week when the Columbia encampment began. Contributors Lexi Bouccuzzi and Neetu Arnold have also been covering the protest at the University of Pennsylvania, and Dissident Project speaker Tahmineh Dehbozorgi has been on the scene at George Washington University, leading to multiple media hits.
Free speech is a bedrock American principle. While pro-Palestinian students have the right to protest peacefully, we're beginning to see many of these crowds devolve into violent mobs... like what happened at Columbia last night. That type of assembly, illegally breaking, entering, and occupying a campus building, is not tolerated by law.
Sincerely,
Casey Given
President & Executive Director

It's no secret that local journalism is hurting right now. As media conglomerates buy state and local outlets, many important stories are left untold. Young Voices is aiming to change that with the launch of a new fellowship opportunity for our writers.
Supported by the State Policy Network (SPN), Young Voices' newly launched State Beat Fellowship is empowering our writers to report on pressing issues of federalism and state policy. Over the coming months, nine of our State Beat fellows will attend regular virtual state policy briefings from SPN-affiliated think tanks and produce monthly media hits on issues affecting their communities, to be placed in top state outlets.
We're already seeing results:
Together, Young Voices will continue to shape the future of journalism and platform pro-freedom voices in America's local communities.
Sincerely,
Casey Given

This week on Moving Forward, the Young Voices radio show, we hear from contributors Brian Hawkins, Luca Gattoni-Celli, Micky Horstman, and Nate Phipps.
Why are some special interests so intent on getting names of those who donate to nonprofits? Brian Hawkins warns that 31 states are expected to consider legislation that threatens those donors' privacy.
The demand for housing in the U.S. is growing but the market is struggling to meet that demand. Luca Gattoni-Celli says the housing shortage is a literal shortage.
The Mayor of Chicago is asking voters to approve what he calls a "mansion tax" to get the rich to pay their fair share. Micky Horstman explains why Johnson's real estate tax is not going to 'tax the rich'.
Political partisanship is making domestic life miserable here in the U.S. Nate Phipps says it's also hurting our reputation abroad.

You might agree that college campuses should be hubs of intellectual debate and free expression. Sadly, many American universities have fostered environments that are stifling at best, and at worst, outright hostile to those who don’t subscribe to the approved groupthink.
With support from the Free to Choose Network, Young Voices launched a campaign last fall offering student activists access to our staff of PR pros to place articles about their campus’ speech codes. We called the initiative "Free to Speak" after the Network's latest documentary release featuring former ACLU President Nadine Strossen.
I’m pleased to say that we just wrapped up the campaign, placing 10 pieces in outlets across the country ranging from student newspapers to top state publications.
A full round up of our coverage, including links to the publications, can be found here.
The Free to Speak Campaign has made clear that the spirit of free speech is alive and well among college students — we just need to empower them to stand up for it!
This week on Moving Forward, the Young Voices radio show, we hear from contributors Madison Yablonski, Daniel Dorman, Noelle Fitchett, and David Mendoza.
With $22 billion in needed repairs, the National Park system is showing signs of strain. Madison Yablonski explains how international visitors can help care for America's natural wonders.
Canadians have earned the right to life, liberty and suicide. Daniel Dorman says euthanasia has come to Canada dressed in euphemisms and deceit.
Lax border policies aren't just a political talking point for the right. Noelle Fitchett shares her thoughts on the disregarded victims of those policies.
The current war against vaping may be well intended but it's not necessarily based in fact. David Mendoza says, whether anti-vaping activists like it or not, vaping helps smokers quit.

This week on Moving Forward, the Young Voices radio show, we hear from contributors Juan Pablo Villasmil, Jonas Du, Sarah Anderson, and Jon Hartley.
When Gen Z hears the words "The American Dream" they have a different reaction than earlier generations. Juan P. Villasmil says he believes in the American dream but it won't likely be around for his children to inherit.
The left has been targeting what it calls "hate speech" for many years now. Jonas Du warns that hate speech hypocrisy is on full display on college campuses following the events of Oct 7.
Criminal justice reform is a top of mind subject in this election year. Sarah Anderson explains why the First Step program may be a winning political strategy for 2024.
With many sectors of the American economy wheezing along on life support, now is a good time to remember that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act enacted in 2018 did what it promised. Jon Hartley shares how the Act spurred investment and hiring.
